Frida Maria Fornander crowned as Miss Universe Sweden 2017

The finale of Miss Universe Sweden 2017 was held on 18th June 2017, and Frida Maria Fornander was crowned as the winner at the conclusion of the finale. The gala coronation was held at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm. 21-year-old Frida succeeds Miss Universe Sweden 2016 Ida Ovmar, and is all set to represent Sweden at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant to be held in November.

The newly crowned Miss Universe Sweden, who is a model by profession, is not a newbie in the world of pageantry. She was crowned Miss Earth Sweden in the year 2014 and represented the country at Miss Earth 2014 pageant. Prior to competing in Miss Earth, Fornander had already won the titles of Miss Teenager Sweden 2011 and Miss Teen Model Universe 2012.

At the same pageant, Lina Ljungberg was crowned Miss International Sweden 2017 and will now represent Sweden at the Miss International 2017 pageant. Camilla Fogdestedt was crowned Miss Earth Sweden 2017 and will represent Sweden at the Miss Earth 2017 pageant.

Sweden has had quite an impressive performance at the Miss Universe pageant, as the country has won the Miss Universe title thrice. In 1955, Sweden won its first Miss Universe crown under the representation of Hillevi Rombin. In 1966, Margareta Arvidsson won the second Miss Universe crown for the country. 1984 was the last time the country won the Miss Universe crown under Yvonne Ryding’s representation.
